Brazil analyses acquisition of new vehicles
The Brazilian Army is keen to enhance the mobility of its troops and is now conducting analysis and feasibility studies to procure, develop or upgrade ground platforms.
The Army Chief of Staff issued a document in December 2020 allowing the service to start a project to equip mechanised cavalry units with 8x8 armoured combat vehicles (Viatura Blindada de Combate de Cavalaria - VBC Cav). The plan is to acquire up to 221 platforms by 2026.
